Her Story
Alexandria Benford is a vibrant Baltimore, Maryland native who is currently based in New York City. Alexandria has been involved in the arts since the tender age of five. From Tap dancing to karate, Alexandria was involved in a plethora of activities until she found her love for the stage. Attending late night rehearsals and watching her mom star in Trouble in Mind at Arena Players theater sparked Alexandria’s curiosity for the arts and at the age of 10, Alexandria starred in her first play, A Wonderful Life, at the same theater. That summer, Alexandria had officially caught the “acting bug.”
Eventually, Alexandria decided to pursue theater at a top-ranking high school for the arts, George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology. There, she studied improv, combat fighting, Shakespeare and other fundamentals of acting.
In 2015 she took her talents to NYC to pursue acting full-time. In her first year, she went on to perform in her first theater tours throughout the East Coast in One Night and Four Hearts.
Off camera you can find Alexandria producing visual stories, editing, taking street photos or performing karaoke. Her passion for traveling and meeting new, interesting people has led her around the world.
Alexandria graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a dual degree in Italian and Broadcast Journalism.
Keeping Up With Alexandria
Seasick Film
Early September 2020, Alexandria wrapped the short film Seasick alongside talented actors- Pauline Chalamet and Jimmy Brewer. Filmed at sea and on Fire Island, Alexandria plays the character Jess, captain of a local ferry who is the secret love interest of our lead, Sadie.
“[Seasick] is an LGBTQ story about the struggles that come with a teenager knowing they’re gay, but not yet out. Everyone’s journey and process is different, and sometimes, it’s not always easy to navigate. Especially for Sadie, who has only told her best friend about her sexuality. What begins as a normal day quickly turns to chaos when she accidentally sends a love confessing text to Jess, her shift captain and crush. Now, she must decide how to deal with the message that Jess will inevitably read, all while balancing her deckhand duties. The trip across the bay ensues, and Sadie’s internal struggles are rampant as she copes with the fact that she may have outed herself before she is ready.”

Just Grace feature Film
Late October, Alexandria wrapped the feature film Just Grace starring Karen Abercrombie. Filmed in North Carolina, Alexandria plays the character Tay, an abused and troubled teenager trying to keep her head above ground while living in a group home.
